History

The Auckland Touch Association (ATA) was formed in 1983.  It is a non-profit organisation and a registered incorporated society.  Its boundaries encompass the same general areas as the Auckland City and Waitakere City Councils.

ATA is one of 16 Provincial Associations which are governed by a National body, Touch New Zealand.  It currently has approximately 5,500 members within its affiliated membership incorporating some 600 teams.

ATA is an organisation that has a very proud history within the New Zealand Touch Community.  It has produced many New Zealand representatives and a number of Touch World Cup Champions including its very own 'Mr Touch' Peter Walters, who has led many Auckland and NZ teams to victory during his time.  Peter has played for Auckland in all Touch National Championships since the inaugural National Championship held in 1986 (Rotorua).
